Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone's King leak goes viral: Are fan pages bigger than official promotions now?

12:31:00 AM 0

Leaked visuals from the South Africa schedule of King, featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, went viral online; Siddharth Anand requested fans not to circulate such visuals to preserve the film’s cinematic experience.

Once upon a time, Bollywood controlled the first look.

A poster was planned. A teaser was timed. A still was approved. A magazine cover was negotiated. A campaign was built week by week, sometimes month by month. The audience saw what the studio wanted them to see, when the studio wanted them to see it. That world is gone.

The King leak controversy proves it. One leaked visual from a foreign schedule can now do what crores of marketing money once did. Ignite national conversation before the makers are ready. Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s leaked visuals from the sets have sent fans into overdrive, while director Siddharth Anand’s appeal not to circulate them has raised a larger question: in today’s cinema ecosystem, are fan pages more powerful than official PR?

The answer is uncomfortable. In many ways, yes.

pic.twitter.com/sTvx9IP4w3 — Siddharth Anand (@justSidAnand) May 1, 2026

Fan pages today are not just fan clubs. They are distribution networks. They are hype machines. They are unofficial newsrooms, meme factories, archive libraries and emotional armies. They monitor shoots, track schedules, amplify sightings, decode costumes, compare looks, trend hashtags and create narratives long before studios release official material. For a film like King, starring Shah Rukh Khan, this ecosystem becomes even more intense. SRK fandom is not passive. It is organised, emotional and incredibly fast.

That speed is both a blessing and a problem. On one hand, leaked images prove massive curiosity. Nobody leaks or circulates something that no one cares about. The frenzy around King shows the scale of anticipation. It tells the industry that the film is already an event. It gives free publicity, organic chatter and instant recall. In marketing terms, that is gold.

But cinema is not only marketing. It is also an experience. A filmmaker plans reveals for a reason. A look, a frame, a costume, a location, a character dynamic, all these things are meant to arrive with context. When leaked in poor quality or without explanation, they can distort perception. A blurry picture becomes a theory. A half seen costume becomes a judgement. A random moment on the set becomes a first look. The surprise is diluted before the storytelling even begins.

That is why Siddharth Anand’s frustration is understandable. A film like King is not being built casually. It is being mounted as a major cinematic event. The makers would naturally want control over how the first real imagery reaches the public. But control is now the hardest thing for filmmakers to retain. The more anticipated the film, the more impossible secrecy becomes.

There is also a moral question for fans. If one loves a star, does circulating leaks help or hurt the film? Fans often argue that they are only spreading excitement. Filmmakers argue that they are damaging the surprise. Both sides have a point. Fan excitement is genuine. But love without restraint can become interference. There is a difference between celebrating a film and prematurely exposing it.

The deeper issue is that Bollywood’s promotional model has not fully adapted to the fan page age. Studios still think in terms of official drops. Fans operate in real time. Studios plan calendars. Fans chase moments. Studios want polish. Fans want immediacy. The gap between the two is where leaks thrive.

The King controversy also shows the changing power structure around stardom. Earlier, PR teams created narratives and fans consumed them. Today, fans often create narratives and PR teams react to them. A leaked image can force a filmmaker to issue a statement. A fan trend can push a studio to respond. A blurry video can become bigger than a planned announcement. This is not a small shift. It is a complete reversal of control.

For Shah Rukh Khan, this is not new. His fandom has always been emotionally charged. But after his massive comeback phase, every move around him carries even greater scrutiny. Add Deepika Padukone to the mix, and the curiosity multiplies. Every frame becomes content. Every gesture becomes discourse. Every leak becomes a headline.

The industry now has two choices. It can either keep fighting leaks with requests and warnings, or it can rethink how to handle anticipation in an age where secrecy is almost impossible. Perhaps the answer lies in faster official communication, controlled behind the scenes drops, stricter set protocols and a more direct relationship with fan communities. But even then, the truth remains: the fan page is now a stakeholder.

The King may still belong to the makers on screen, but off screen, the kingdom is increasingly being run by the fans.

Dhurandhar The Revenge controversy settles: Santosh Kumar apologises to Aditya Dhar and team, Bombay High Court closes defamation suit

9:31:00 PM 0

The legal tussle involving Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar The Revenge has, for the time being, reached a resolution after the Bombay High Court disposed of a defamation case. The development came after filmmaker Santosh Kumar formally apologised for his earlier public remarks.

The dispute traces back to March 2026, when Kumar accused Dhar of lifting the storyline for Dhurandhar The Revenge from his own script titled D-Saheb. He claimed that his script had been officially registered with the Screenwriters Association in 2023. These allegations were made during a press conference, following which Dhar approached the High Court, arguing that the statements were defamatory and had harmed his professional reputation.

As reported by Live Law, the matter was heard by a single-judge bench presided over by Justice Arif Doctor, who ultimately closed the case after Kumar issued an unconditional apology in court.

The official order recorded that Kumar’s counsel submitted the apology for statements made during the March 30, 2026 press interaction. Dhar’s legal representative informed the court that, in view of the apology, his client no longer wished to continue pursuing the defamation suit or seek damages. Accepting the apology, Dhar agreed that the matter could be concluded, leading the court to dispose of the case, noting that no further issues remained to be addressed.

While this brings an end to the defamation proceedings, the court clarified that Kumar retains the right to initiate separate legal action regarding his claim over the script. The ruling explicitly stated that any future proceedings on the issue of authorship would be independent and unaffected by the current order.

During earlier hearings, the court had encouraged both parties to settle the matter amicably and refrain from escalating tensions. Although Kumar was initially reluctant to issue a formal apology, he eventually agreed, paving the way for the dispute’s resolution.

For now, the defamation case stands closed, but the larger question surrounding the ownership of the story remains unresolved and could potentially lead to fresh litigation in the future.

3:31:00 AM 0

Actor Jacqueline Fernandez is expected to attend the 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, scheduled to take place from May 12 to May 23, 2026, in France. The actor, who has been a recurring presence at the festival in recent years, is preparing for her appearance on the international red carpet.

According to sources, Jacqueline has already begun preparations, which include styling sessions and finalising her wardrobe for the event. Her Cannes outings have often drawn attention for their fashion choices, and similar expectations surround her appearance this year as well.

A source close to the development said, “Jacqueline’s Cannes appearances have consistently reflected her evolution as a global personality. Every year, she ensures her presence goes beyond fashion and glamour, carrying India’s representation onto an international stage with elegance and confidence. This year too, she is carefully finalising multiple looks that align with her global image while celebrating her roots.”

EXCLUSIVE: Awarapan 2 sparks distributor frenzy; Dharma, Zee Studios, AA Films and others meet Mukesh Bhatt for theatrical rights

10:31:00 PM 0

Awarapan (2007) underperformed at the box office during its theatrical run but went on to achieve cult status over the years, thanks to its unforgettable soundtrack, touching storyline, memorable dramatic and action moments and, of course, Emraan Hashmi in an intense, never-seen-before avatar. As a result, the trade and industry are confident about the prospects of Awarapan 2. Last week, some of the biggest distributors in the Hindi film industry were seen at the Vishesh Films office, keen to acquire the film’s all-India theatrical rights.

A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “You name it and that distributor was seen at the Vishesh Films office last week – be it Zee Studios, Anil Thadani’s AA Films, Pen Marudhar, Jio Studios, Star Studio18, Cinepolis, etc. That’s not all. Dharma Productions, which now has its own distribution arm, also met Mukesh Bhatt. Lastly, Ananya Birla’s Birla Studios plans to not only produce but also distribute films in the future. Their representative also dropped by.”

An industry insider commented, “Ek zamaane mein hota tha that distributors would make a beeline and fiercely try to outdo each other to acquire the rights of a promising film. This episode reminded me of those days. It clearly shows that Awarapan 2 will be a film to watch out for. The first part has tremendous recall value. Memes are already being shared online about how fans are waiting to see the second part. As they say in our line, picture ekdum garam hai.”

The trade source further said, “Mukesh Bhatt is quite overwhelmed by the response. He met all the distributors warmly. Now, he and his team are analysing the offers and are expected to make a decision soon. Once that is done, the makers will announce the name of the distributor who won the competitive bid.”

Besides Emraan Hashmi, Awarapan’s first part also starred Shriya Saran, Mrinalini Sharma, Ashutosh Rana, Ashish Vidyarthi, Shaad Randhawa, Salil Acharya, Purab Kohli and the late Atul Parchure. Mohit Suri directed the love saga while its evergreen songs were composed by Pritam Chakraborty.

As for Awarapan 2, it is directed by Nitin Kakkar of Filmistaan (2014) and Notebook (2019) fame. This time, Emraan is joined by Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi. It releases in cinemas on August 14.

Janhvi Kapoor receives support from Amaha; company issues strong statement clarifying addiction remarks after podcast clip goes viral

9:31:00 PM 0

Actor Janhvi Kapoor recently found herself at the centre of online speculation after a segment from her appearance on Raj Shamani’s podcast was circulated out of context. The edited clips led to misleading assumptions that the actress was speaking from personal experience about alcohol addiction.

Addressing the growing confusion, mental health organisation Amaha, in collaboration with Off The Rocks, issued an official clarification regarding Kapoor’s role in the conversation. The statement firmly refuted claims that the actress had any personal history of addiction.

“We at Off The Rocks & Amaha have noticed certain media pages misrepresenting content associated with this initiative and Janhvi Kapoor. This is deeply concerning. We want to be clear, Janhvi Kapoor is part of this conversation as a caregiver and ally, not as someone who has had any personal experience of addiction or alcohol dependence”, the statement read.

It further emphasised the impact of such misinformation, adding, “Such misrepresentation not only diminishes her role, but also undermines and disrespects the real, lived experiences of those battling addiction and those supporting them. Let's not trivialise efforts to lend a healing hand to a critical problem by misleading information for the sake of click bait.”

Calling for accountability, the organisation concluded, “We strongly call upon media outlets, digital platforms, and individuals to report with integrity and ensure conversations around addiction are handled with the sensitivity they deserve. Misinformation in this space is harmful, irresponsible, and disrespectful to the very community this dialogue aims to support. Thank you for standing with us.”

During the podcast, Kapoor had spoken about alcohol addiction in a broader context, while also reiterating that she has not personally struggled with it. She also elaborated on her involvement in initiatives that aim to combat addiction, positioning herself as a caregiver and ally. However, selective edits of her remarks sparked speculation, with some reports highlighting her statement about how she may have turned to alcohol during the COVID-19 period, thus creating the need to issue an official clarification.

On the professional front, Kapoor is gearing up for her upcoming film Peddi, which marks her second Telugu outing after Devara. The film also stars Ram Charan and is slated for release on June 4, adding to the anticipation surrounding her expanding filmography.

Diljit Dosanjh calls out Pro-Khalistani group at Canada concert

5:31:00 AM 0

Diljit Dosanjh recently made headlines during his concert in Calgary, Canada, after addressing a group of attendees waving Khalistani flags at the venue. The singer-actor reportedly asked the group to leave, expressing his discomfort with the display and distancing himself from pro-Khalistani elements during the live performance.

The incident unfolded amid ongoing criticism from a section of people who had questioned Diljit for showing respect towards veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan. Responding to these allegations during the concert, Diljit clarified his stance while emphasizing his continued efforts to highlight issues related to Punjab on global platforms.

“My job is not to do charity. But whichever platform I go on, I always talk about Punjab”, he said and continued, “We often say national media doesn’t talk about Punjab enough. I went everywhere, including on that channel for the sake of Punjab. I put forth Punjab’s issues there. I’ve even donated generously to my state whenever needed”.

The backlash surrounding his interaction with Amitabh Bachchan stems from long-standing criticism by certain groups. Bachchan had faced controversy decades ago over remarks made in the aftermath of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s assassination during the period of Operation Blue Star. While the remarks have been widely debated over the years, some groups continue to hold the actor accountable.

A post shared by ikswaal (@_ikswaal)

The singer also elaborated on his intent behind international appearances, including his visit to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “I even went on Jimmy Fallon’s show to talk about Punjab and the Guru Nanak Jahaz incident. I didn’t go there to promote any film or song. I went there to bring Punjab and its issues to light so that the national media talks about it. If you still have an issue that I sat across someone on television, then keep waving how many flags you want to,” he added.

During the show, Diljit had referenced the historic Komagata Maru incident, where Indian immigrants faced discrimination in Canada. He had also noted performing in Vancouver, close to the site of the incident, where he witnessed a significant turnout for his concert.

Diljit’s recent statements indicate his attempt to separate his artistic and cultural outreach from political interpretations. By addressing the issue directly at a public event, he underscored his focus on representing Punjab’s culture and concerns on global platforms while rejecting associations he does not align with.

The Calgary incident has since sparked conversations online, with fans and observers weighing in on the singer’s stance and his broader messaging during international performances.

SHOCKING: India is the ONLY country in the world to award an ‘A’ rating to The Devil Wears Prada 2

12:31:00 AM 0

Many viewers who ventured to watch The Devil Wears Prada 2 on Friday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2, expected an abundance of skin show, intimacy or violence. This is because the film has been certified ‘A’. However, all such fears were put to rest once patrons exited the theatre; after all, there’s nothing even remotely adult in the film, be it in terms of dialogues, scenes or even theme. Almost everyone is unanimous that The Devil Wears Prada 2 is a family-friendly flick and that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) should have awarded it a U/A, if not a ‘U’, rating.

Bollywood Hungama went through the ratings awarded by censor boards across various countries and found that India is the only country where The Devil Wears Prada 2 is restricted to audiences aged 18 and above. In Switzerland, the film is permitted for anyone above the age of 6. Finland, Denmark and Spain permit anyone over 7 to catch the comedy drama. In Ireland, one has to be above 8, while in Belgium and the Netherlands, one has to be 9 to see the film. Turkey has awarded 10A rating to The Devil Wears Prada 2. In all these countries, minors are not restricted from watching the film; they can enter the theatre if accompanied by adults.

The Censor Boards in Brazil, Hungary, Malta, the United Kingdom, Oman, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, South Korea and Ukraine have given 12 rating to the film. One has to be above 13 or accompanied by adults in Argentina, Bahrain, Indonesia, Singapore, the United States and the United Arab Emirates if they want to check out the Meryl Streep-Anne Hathaway-Emily Blunt-Stanley Tucci starrer. In Lebanon and Vietnam, the film has received a PG13 and T13 rating; it means that no one under the age of 13 can watch the film.

Then there are four countries where the rating is a bit mature, but still the film is accessible to under 18-year-olds. In Australia and Saudi Arabia, The Devil Wears Prada 2 has received an M and PG15 rating. Anyone under the age of 15 can watch The Devil Wears Prada 2 if they are tagging along with an adult or above the age of 15. In Kuwait, no one can see the film if they are under 15, while the same rule is in place in Russia for those under 16.

There are three countries – Egypt, Hong Kong and the Philippines – where the film has received a 'Parental Guidance' rating. Finally, The Devil Wears Prada 2 has no age restrictions and is accessible to all in as many as 11 countries – Bulgaria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Taiwan and Thailand.

La La Land déjà vu

The unjustified ‘A’ rating for The Devil Wears Prada 2 brings back memories of La La Land (2016). The acclaimed musical romantic saga had family-friendly content and yet got an ‘A’ rating in India. Just like The Devil Wears Prada 2, every other major country in the world made it accessible to anyone under the age of 18.

To conclude

The question, then, is simple: what exactly did the CBFC see in The Devil Wears Prada 2 that the rest of the world did not? When countries across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas have found the film suitable for younger audiences, India’s ‘A’ rating doesn’t just look harsh; it looks inexplicable. At a time when the industry is trying to bring families back to theatres, such baffling certification decisions end up hurting films, exhibitors and audiences alike. Thankfully, despite the ‘A’ rating, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is delivering huge numbers at the box office in India. Nevertheless, the CBFC owes an explanation for this fiasco.

King leak controversy: Siddharth Anand issues strong warning after Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone set photos go viral

11:31:00 PM 0

Just a day after social media was flooded with leaked photos from the sets of the much-anticipated action-drama King, director Siddharth Anand has issued an official statement addressing the situation. The viral images, reportedly featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone shooting in Cape Town, sparked massive excitement among fans, but have also left the film’s team concerned about preserving the cinematic experience.

Taking to social media, Siddharth Anand shared a note requesting fans and online platforms to refrain from circulating unauthorized content from the shoot. Emphasizing the importance of maintaining the film’s intrigue, the filmmaker urged audiences to wait for official reveals.

"Request to all the fans. Please do not post or circulate any leaked multimedia from the sets of King. The team is working round the clock to ensure the best cinematic experience for everyone. Let us wait for the surprise on the big screen and for the assets to be revealed as the team of King originally intends to. Thank you for your love, support and cooperation”.

pic.twitter.com/sTvx9IP4w3 — Siddharth Anand (@justSidAnand) May 1, 2026

The leaked visuals, which reportedly show Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in an sweet moment holding hands, during filming, quickly went viral across platforms, further amplifying buzz around the project. The film, already one of the most awaited releases, has been making headlines for multiple reasons.

King holds particular significance for Shah Rukh Khan fans as it marks the theatrical debut of his daughter, Suhana Khan, in a full-fledged role alongside him. While Suhana previously made her acting debut with The Archies, this film will be her first major big-screen outing, adding an emotional and legacy-driven layer to the anticipation.

Apart from the father-daughter pairing, the film also boasts a strong ensemble cast including Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Abhay Verma, and Raghav Juyal in pivotal roles. With Siddharth Anand at the helm—known for mounting large-scale action spectacles—the film is expected to deliver a high-octane cinematic experience.

Currently in production, King has been shot across multiple international locations, with Cape Town being one of the key schedules. The makers have been maintaining tight secrecy around the storyline and visuals, making the recent leak a setback to their carefully planned promotional strategy.

Slated for a theatrical release on December 24, 2026, King continues to build strong momentum, with fans eagerly awaiting official glimpses from what promises to be one of the biggest Bollywood releases of the year.

Sudha Reddy Likely to return to Met Gala 2026 after one-year break

2:31:00 AM 0

As excitement builds around the guest list for the Met Gala 2026, reports suggest that Indian business personality and philanthropist Sudha Reddy may be set for another appearance at fashion’s biggest night. According to sources, the Hyderabad-based social figure is expected to return to the iconic steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art for her third outing after skipping last year’s edition.

Sudha Reddy has previously drawn attention for representing Indian craftsmanship on an international platform. She first attended the Met Gala in 2021 wearing a bespoke look by Falguni Shane Peacock. She returned in 2024 in a handcrafted creation by Tarun Tahiliani, further strengthening her identity as one of the few Indian personalities regularly seen at the global fashion event.

If reports are accurate, her 2026 look could once again place Indian design in the spotlight. Insiders claim she may collaborate with Manish Malhotra for the gala this year. Styling is reportedly expected to be overseen by Mariel Haenn, known for working with international names including Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna and Pharrell Williams.

A source from Hyderabad said, “Expect something rooted in heritage and culture but scaled for a global stage. Her Met Gala appearances are never just about fashion, they’re about identity and presence. She will be once again championing Indian craftsmanship on the world stage as her vision is to proudly make a statement for Indian textiles and jewellery.”

Beyond fashion, Sudha Reddy continues to maintain an active global profile. She serves as a director at Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited and leads the Sudha Reddy Foundation. She has also attended events such as the Cannes Film Festival, Paris Haute Couture Week and the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

The Met Gala 2026 is scheduled for May 4, 2026, and is expected to host around 450 global figures from entertainment, fashion, sports and business. This year’s theme is “Fashion Is Art,” exploring the connection between clothing and artistic expression over 5,000 years.

The gala will reportedly be co-chaired by Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Anna Wintour.

With the official guest list still under wraps, growing speculation around Sudha Reddy’s return reflects the increasing visibility of Indian names on one of fashion’s most-watched stages.

Bombay High Court dismisses PIL seeking change in Raja Shivaji’s title

11:31:00 PM 0

The Bombay High Court has dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) that sought a stay on the theatrical release of the Marathi-Hindi bilingual film Raja Shivaji, clearing the way for the movie’s scheduled release on May 1, 2026. The petition had objected to the omission of the honorific “Chhatrapati” from the film’s title and claimed it was disrespectful to the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

The plea was filed by NGO Sree Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Foundation, which argued that leaving out the title “Chhatrapati” hurt the sentiments of followers of the iconic Maratha ruler. The petitioner requested the court to direct the makers to rename the film Chhatrapati Raja Shivaji and also sought restrictions on the release, screening, and public exhibition of the movie until changes were made.

A division bench led by Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Gautam Ankhad rejected the petition, observing that the matter did not involve any real public cause. The court also noted the timing of the plea, pointing out that it was filed only two days before the film’s release.

According to the bench, there was nothing in the title Raja Shivaji that could be considered insulting or derogatory to the status of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The judges stated that the petition appeared to be motivated rather than filed in genuine public interest.

The respondents in the case included the Union of India, the State of Maharashtra, the Central Board of Film Certification, actor-director Riteish Deshmukh, producers Jyoti Deshpande, Genelia Deshmukh, and Mumbai Film Company Pvt Ltd.

During the hearing, counsel representing the film’s producers informed the court that the story focuses on Shivaji Maharaj’s life before his coronation in 1674, when he officially received the title of “Chhatrapati.” It was also stated that a disclaimer explaining this context had already been included in the film and approved by the CBFC.

The producers further submitted that the project had been publicly announced in February 2024, while its release date was declared in 2025, meaning the title had long been in the public domain.

In its final remarks, the High Court said public interest litigation was meant to amplify genuine public concerns, and not be misused for such last-minute objections.

Rahul Roy hits back at trolls with powerful note after viral videos spark concern: “You cannot break me”

Rahul Roy has strongly reacted to online trolling after certain videos of him went viral on social media, drawing mixed reactions from fans. The actor, who has largely stayed away from the limelight in recent years, took to Instagram to share a firm message addressing criticism around his recent appearances.

In his note, Rahul Roy wrote, “I do my work with honesty and modesty. I have some legal matters to pay for, and these are not from today—they are from before the brain stroke happened. If you mock my simplicity or make fun of my struggles, it says less about me and more about you”.

He further added, “If you are truly so concerned, then help me find some genuine and decent work so I can pay for these cases. At least I am earning through hard work, not by mocking others. And after the brain stroke, it is important for me to stay active. I want to work for as long as I am alive. It keeps my mind active and gives me the sense of purpose and responsibility that I am still working today. Yes, it may hurt a little sometimes, but you cannot break me”.

The reaction comes after a social media page named Dr Vanita Ghadhage Desai shared videos featuring the actor, which quickly circulated online. In these clips, Rahul Roy is seen performing alongside an unidentified woman, with several users labelling the content as ‘cringe’ and questioning his participation. The videos left a section of his followers concerned, while others criticised the nature of the content.

Rahul Roy rose to prominence with the blockbuster Aashiqui, which made him a household name in the early 1990s. Over the years, he worked with several prominent names in the industry and built a steady fan base. He also went on to win the first season of the reality show Bigg Boss, further cementing his popularity among audiences.

However, despite his early success, the actor has not been very active in films or web series in recent years. His latest statement highlights both his personal challenges and his determination to continue working, even as he navigates health issues and financial responsibilities.
