SCOOP: FWICE likely to lift non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh today amid Don 3 storm

9:31:00 PM 0

On May 25, FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) issued a non-cooperation directive against actor Ranveer Singh, following the dispute between the actor and Excel Entertainment. The FWICE press conference was widely covered and became a huge talking point. Yesterday, FWICE announced that it would hold a second press conference today, Wednesday, June 3. As per the invite, the press meet would serve as a follow-up to the dispute between Farhan Akhtar and Ranveer Singh over Don 3. Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learned from sources what’s going to happen at this much-awaited press conference.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The head honchos of FWICE will likely announce that they are going to lift the non-cooperation directive against Ranveer. The revocation of their earlier order has been done in consultation with senior members of the film industry. In short, the workers are now free to work with Ranveer Singh in his upcoming projects.”

Just like last time, the press conference, which will be held today, will be presided over by chief advisor Ashoke Pandit, president B N Tiwari, general secretary Ashok Dubey and treasurer Gangeshwalal Shrivastav.

Matter takes a legal turn

Meanwhile, Hindustan Times reported last night that Ranveer Singh sent a legal notice to FWICE after it issued a non-cooperation directive against him.

On the other hand, veteran producer T P Aggarwal filed a petition in the Bombay Civil Court at Dindoshi against FWICE and IMPPA (Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association), stating that no individual or organization has the authority to impose a ban or issue a non-cooperation directive against members of the film industry.

T P Aggarwal said, “The film industry thrives on collaboration, and it is important that matters of this nature are addressed through proper legal and professional channels. Any attempt to discourage people from working with an individual should not be taken lightly. Such actions can have far-reaching consequences for livelihoods and creative freedom, and therefore must be dealt with in a fair, transparent, and lawful manner.”

What happened in the previous press conference

At the May 25 press meet, Ashoke Pandit explained, “Farhan Akhtar filed a complaint in IFTDA (Indian Film & Television Directors' Association), which I head. The complaint very clearly said that 3 weeks before the unit was to leave the shoot, Ranveer withdrew from the film and left Don 3. Farhan came on Zoom as he was in London, while Ritesh Sidhwani visited the office of IFTDA. In the next two hours, they explained to us the issue and why they had come to us. Then, as a rule, we approached the other party. Every 10 days, we reminded him (Ranveer Singh) three times to meet us and share his version as well. However, we didn’t get any response from him. When we announced the press conference, we got an email stating that our federation doesn’t fall in the jurisdiction of the entire issue. It said, ‘Your body has no reason to get involved in this matter’.”

Birendra Nath Tiwari added, “We feel that the message should go to the industry ki koi superstar niyam se bada nahin hai. Hence, we have put in place a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer from this very day. We would like to inform all the workers and associations that until the dispute is solved and until Ranveer Singh doesn’t meet us, this directive will remain in place. Since this is about the rights of a producer, I would request the producer associations to also lend their support.”

Jacqueliene Fernandez to face trial as Delhi court orders framing of charges in ED’s Rs 200 crores money laundering case

10:31:00 PM 0

On May 30, 2026, a Delhi court ordered the framing of criminal charges against Jacqueliene Fernandez, conman Sukesh Chandrashekar, and 15 others in a high-profile Rs 200-crores money laundering case. The ruling establishes that the trial against the actor and the co-accused will formally commence following their appearance in court this week.

Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Prashant Sharma observed that the investigative findings revealed a robust legal basis to proceed with the prosecution. "Prima facie, there is sufficient material on record based upon which a strong suspicion is raised against all the accused," the ASJ stated, as per a report by PTI.

The court held that Fernandez and the others are liable to be prosecuted for the offence of money laundering under Section 3 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), which is punishable under Section 4 of the same Act. The judge has directed all the accused individuals to appear physically in court on June 3 for the formal signing and framing of the charges.

The court rejected Fernandez's primary legal defense that she was an unwitting victim being made a scapegoat in the case. Her legal team had previously argued that she should not be prosecuted under the PMLA since she was not named as an accused in the scheduled extortion offense handled by the Delhi Police. However, the court dismissed this argument as meritless, reiterating that an individual can be prosecuted under anti-money laundering laws independently of the core scheduled offense.

The court noted that Fernandez's own statements recorded under Section 50 of the PMLA clearly indicated her regular interaction with Chandrashekar, as well as the receipt of substantial funds and luxury articles. The ruling emphasized that the actor was aware of Chandrashekar’s extensive criminal background and yet chose to receive expensive gifts, financial payments for her brother, and a car for her parents, thereby attracting liability for utilizing the proceeds of crime.

The decision arrives shortly after the court permitted Fernandez to withdraw her application filed on April 16, which had sought to turn an approver in the ongoing probe. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had vehemently opposed her petition, arguing that her active involvement and ongoing communication with the prime accused disqualified her from seeking such relief.

The broader case stems from an investigation into an organized criminal network operated by Chandrashekar, who was first arrested by the Delhi Police in 2017 and subsequently by the ED in 2021. Prosecution details reveal that Chandrashekar managed the extortion racket from inside his prison cell using spoofed calls, encrypted applications, and fabricated identities. By impersonating high-ranking government officials from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Ministry of Law and Justice, he induced the complainant, Aditi Singh, to part with huge sums of money totaling over Rs 200 crore.

The singer, known for evergreen tracks such as ‘Na Na Karte Pyar Tumhin Se,’ ‘Tumne Pukara Aur Hum Chale Aaye,’ and ‘Aajkal Tere Mere Pyar Ke Charche,’ reportedly died due to age-related health issues.

Confirming the news, Mangala Khadilkar, author of the acclaimed Marathi biography Suman Sugandh, shared details about the singer's final moments. “Suman ji passed away at around 8 pm at her residence in Lokhandwala due to old age. She passed away peacefully. For the last few days she was listening to her own songs,” Khadilkar told PTI.

Don 3 controversy: Ram Gopal Varma SLAMS “kangaroo court” FWICE over non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh; calls the decision “a massive PR Disaster”

11:31:00 PM 0

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has weighed in on the ongoing controversy involving Ranveer Singh, Excel Entertainment, and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) over Don 3. The director took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his views on the dispute, expressing support for Ranveer Singh and questioning FWICE's decision to issue a non-cooperation directive against the actor.

The controversy began after reports emerged that Ranveer Singh had exited Don 3, leading to a dispute with producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment. According to reports, the production house alleged that the actor's withdrawal resulted in losses of nearly Rs 45 crores due to pre-production work, location scouting, and other development expenses.

Following the disagreement, FWICE reportedly issued multiple notices to Ranveer Singh, asking him to present his side of the matter. After the actor's legal team questioned the federation's jurisdiction over a private commercial agreement, FWICE announced a non-cooperation directive against him.

Reacting to the development, Ram Gopal Varma strongly criticized the federation's involvement in the dispute. In a lengthy post on X, Varma wrote, “BAN ‘FWICE’ and not @RanveerOfficial.”

The filmmaker argued that the issue was essentially a contractual disagreement between two parties and should not be treated as an industry-wide matter. “At the heart of this whole matter is a producer claiming massive pre-production losses, but that is just a private contractual dispute between two parties like it happens in millions of cases all the time and all over India in all businesses,” he wrote.

Varma further questioned FWICE's authority to intervene in such disputes, stating, “FWICE is neither a court of legal justice nor a government authorised regulatory body.”

He also claimed that only the parties directly involved were aware of the full circumstances surrounding the disagreement and suggested that any legal issues should be resolved through appropriate judicial channels. “Only the disputing parties will know the intricacies about what happened, and so the matter should be between them like any other civil matter, and in case one or both appeal to a court, the judge decides the matter,” he added.

The filmmaker further argued that the actor's professional standing would remain unaffected despite the controversy. “And here we arrive at the main point that everyone in their heart knows, including the disputing company, and for that matter even FWICE, that if @RanveerOfficial simply nods a yes, there will be a one kilometre long queue of producers outside his house tomorrow morning with cheques ready,” Varma wrote.

He concluded his statement by urging all parties to avoid unnecessary interference in what he described as a civil dispute. “Let’s not poke our unwanted noses into a civil dispute between 2 parties,” he stated.

BAN “FWICE” and not @RanveerOfficial The so called “BAN” or non co operation in the style of Gandhiji , will eventually become a BIG FAT JOKE on FWICE

This isn’t industry or worker protection, like they are claiming. It is just a pure performative muscle flexing , by an…

— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) May 29, 2026

The comments come at a time when the Don 3 controversy continues to generate discussion across the film industry. Earlier, CINTAA Vice-President Padmini Kolhapure publicly voiced support for Ranveer Singh, while CINTAA president Poonam Dhillon suggested that the matter may have been resolved differently had the association been approached earlier.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh's representatives have remained silent on the issue, stating that professional disagreements are best handled with maturity rather than through public speculation. Readers may recall that Bollywood Hungama recently reported that Salman Khan has been attempting to mediate between the parties privately in an effort to find an amicable resolution.

As of now, neither Excel Entertainment nor Ranveer Singh has officially commented on the future of Don 3.

“Maatrubhumi is truly a must-watch”: Subhash Ghai, Kabir Khan, Riteish Deshmukh and others watch rough cut of Salman Khan-starrer

2:31:00 AM 0

Amid ongoing discussions surrounding Salman Khan’s upcoming war drama Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, filmmaker Subhash Ghai has now shared his reaction after watching a rough cut of the film alongside several members of the film industry.

The gathering came together to watch an early version of the film.

Sharing his thoughts, Ghai wrote, “It was so beautiful to see my favourite directors together at food square today to watch a rough cut of Apoorva lakhiya film MAATRU BHUMI with lead stars salman khan n Chitrangada based on a touching story of soldiers of india n china with their respective emotions for their nations n their families with a theme of mutual peace n respect.”

His statement comes at a time when the film continues to remain in the spotlight due to delays and controversy linked to its subject matter.

Originally titled Battle of Galwan, the film was reportedly inspired by the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops. However, after the teaser release attracted criticism from Chinese state-backed media outlet Global Times, reports suggested that the makers were asked to soften the film’s political tone and reduce direct references that could escalate diplomatic sensitivities.

The Salman Khan-starrer was initially expected to release on April 17, 2026. However, the film is yet to receive a confirmed release date as it continues to navigate multiple approval stages, including defence-related clearances and certification procedures.

Meanwhile, writer-director Rumy Jafry also shared the same photograph from the screening and praised the project. In his social media caption, he wrote, “Watched Salman Khan’s Matrabhumi first cut 🎥🎬with the most amazing friends — @subhashghai1 @beingsalmankhan @kabirkhankk @riteishd @chitrangda @lakhiaapoorva , and Sooraj Barjatya. What an experience! ✨ The film is truly a must watch.”

The makers are yet to officially announce the revised release plans.

Aneet Padda starrer Shakti Shalini wrapped up in Mumbai: Report

12:31:00 AM 0

The Maddock Horror Comedy Universe is all set to expand further with its upcoming film Shakti Shalini, which promises a unique blend of horror, folklore, revenge, and comedy. The film stars Aneet Padda and Vishal Jethwa in lead roles and is already generating buzz for its intriguing storyline and supernatural backdrop. Adding to the excitement, recent reports suggest that the film has officially wrapped up its shoot.

According to a Mid-Day report, on May 27, Shakti Shalini completed filming at Chitrath Studio in Powai after an extensive shooting schedule across picturesque locations in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. The film reportedly went on floors in March and has now concluded production after months of elaborate filming.

Speaking about the climax portions and large-scale setup created for the film, a source was quoted as saying, “Massive sets depicting a Rajasthani village and the interiors of a house were built. The sequence shows the village people, especially women, celebrating the defeat of evil.”

One of the major highlights of the film is expected to be Aneet Padda’s double role. Reports suggest that the actress will portray two entirely contrasting characters — one symbolising divine goodness and another embodying a vengeful evil spirit. The narrative is believed to revolve around a supernatural battle between these two powerful personas.

The report further stated, “Viineet, who portrays the antagonist, and Aneet shot the climax across Chambal, Datia, Antri, Panihar, Gwalior, and Morena in Madhya Pradesh. They filmed significant portions in Dholpur and Barkhandi in Rajasthan. Nana Patekar and Seema Biswas joined the unit in May.”

Interestingly, Shakti Shalini is reportedly inspired by a Bengali folklore about a woman who returns as a vengeful spirit after being brutally killed. The supernatural entity is said to target men as part of her revenge-driven mission. The film is expected to combine elements of folklore horror with the signature entertainment style associated with the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe.

Over the years, Maddock Films has successfully built a dedicated fanbase for its horror-comedy franchise with films like Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya. With Shakti Shalini, the makers appear to be exploring darker and more emotionally layered territory while still retaining commercial appeal.

While an official release date is yet to be announced, the film has already emerged as one of the most anticipated additions to the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. Fans are now eagerly waiting to see Aneet Padda’s transformation in the supernatural drama and the intense showdown that lies at the heart of the story.

Rs. 400 crore SHOCKER! Vashu Bhagnani's Puja Entertainment sues Tips, Tauranis and David Dhawan; seeks Rs. 100 crore more over Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai song row

10:31:00 PM 0

Bollywood Hungama has been at the forefront in reporting the feud between producer Vashu Bhagnani and the makers of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai over the use of the songs ‘Chunari Chunari’ and ‘Ishq Sona Hai’ from Biwi No 1 (1999). Now, it has come to light that Vashu’s production house, Puja Entertainment (India) Ltd, has filed a whopping Rs. Rs. 400 crore suit before Bombay High Court against Tips Industries Limited, Ramesh Taurani, Kumar S Taurani and filmmaker David Dhawan over the alleged unauthorized use and alleged exploitation of iconic aforementioned songs in the upcoming Varun Dhawan-starrer, slated for a release on June 5.

As per the press statement, the suit, filed through Counsels V K Dubey Associates, seeks urgent and sweeping injunctive relief restraining the release, distribution, exhibition, streaming and further commercial exploitation of the film and its promotional material containing the disputed songs, including 'Chunnari Chunnari' and 'Ishq Sona Hai'. The Court has reportedly permitted the filing of the proceedings and has kept it for hearing soon. As per the press statement, it could be ‘one of the most explosive copyright battles in recent Bollywood history’.

Apart from seeking a complete injunction against the alleged infringing use of the songs, Puja Entertainment has also sought directions for the removal of the songs ‘Chunnari Chunnari’ and ‘Ishq Sona Hai’ from the film and its promotional material, along with a demand for a change of the title, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. The production house has further demanded an additional Rs. 100 crores as damages in the event that Tips Industries Limited and David Dhawan fail to comply with the said demands and continue exploiting the disputed works. Puja Entertainment (India) Ltd has further alleged that the defendants have unlawfully exploited valuable intellectual property rights despite allegedly having no authority, assignment or licence to commercially use the original audio-visual works. The production house contended that the alleged infringement strikes at the very foundation of proprietary and commercial rights vested in the original cinematographic works associated with the late 1990s blockbuster banner.

The press statement also said that leading Counsel V K Dubey, representing Puja Entertainment, confirmed that after considering the entire scenario, the Honourable Court has decided to list the matter for hearing shortly, and the matter is presently sub judice.

BREAKING: Reliance Industries Ltd moves Bombay High Court to halt release of Carry On Jatta 4

10:31:00 PM 0

The upcoming Punjabi film Carry On Jatta 4 has landed in legal trouble ahead of its scheduled theatrical release on June 26, 2026. According to a report in the May 23, 2026 issue of Atul Mohan’s Complete Cinema magazine, Reliance Industries Ltd. has approached the Bombay High Court seeking to restrain the release of the much-awaited comedy entertainer.

As per the article, the matter reportedly arises from a contractual dispute linked to a tripartite arrangement involving Reliance Industries Ltd., Panorama Studios International Ltd. and Humble Motion Pictures. The dispute has now reached the court, with Reliance seeking urgent protection in connection with the film’s rights and release.

The matter came up before Justice Abhay Ahuja, who permitted Reliance to correct certain procedural defects in its commercial plaint. The court also granted Reliance liberty to approach the Vacation Court for appropriate relief.

During the hearing, the defence raised objections to the maintainability of the suit, pointing out non-compliance with the verification requirements for commercial disputes. Senior Advocate Venkatesh Dhond, appearing for Reliance, sought a status quo order, expressing apprehension that the defendants could create third-party rights over the property.

On the other hand, Senior Advocate Ashish Kamat, appearing for Panorama Studios, opposed the request for status quo. He argued that third-party rights had already been created before Reliance moved its application before the court.

With the film’s release date already announced, the legal proceedings could become crucial in determining whether Carry On Jatta 4 faces any delay or hurdle before its theatrical arrival.

About Carry On Jatta 4

Carry On Jatta 4 is the part of a very popular franchise and stars Gippy Grewal, Binnu Dhillon, Sargun Mehta, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Late Jaswinder Bhalla, Karamjit Anmol and others. It continues to hold the record of the highest opening for a Punjabi film, at Rs. 4.50 crore nett. In its lifetime, the third part grossed around Rs. 54 crore nett in India and Rs. 49 crore Overseas and hence, it entered the Rs. 100 crore club.
