Actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh has reacted for the first time after his latest film Satluj, originally titled Punjab 95, was removed from ZEE5 in India just two days after its release. While the actor did not directly address the controversy, he shared a powerful social media post to comment on the film's sudden disappearance from the streaming platform.

Directed by Honey Trehan, Satluj premiered on ZEE5 on July 3, 2026, in its original and unaltered form, bypassing a theatrical release. However, on the evening of July 5, the platform announced that the film would no longer be available for streaming in India, citing "current developments." Diljit Dosanjh shares first reaction Taking to Instagram, Diljit first shared a still from Satluj along with a cryptic yet powerful caption. "I challenge the darkness," he wrote. He also added a message in Punjabi that drew a direct comparison between the film's fate and the life of the man whose story inspired it. "The same thing that happened to Satluj also happened to Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra."

Soon after, during a live interaction with fans, Diljit spoke candidly about the events surrounding the film's removal from ZEE5. According to the actor, he had anticipated such a development even before it happened. "My love and respect to all of you. What I had already expected is exactly what happened. I thought the film might get banned when offices will open on Monday, but I didn't know it would happen as early as Sunday evening," he said.

Diljit also revealed that the uncertainty surrounding the film's future influenced the team's promotional strategy. He explained that they consciously chose not to mount an extensive marketing campaign because they feared it could have jeopardised the film's release altogether. Despite the film being removed from streaming in India, the actor expressed satisfaction that audiences had at least managed to watch it during the short window it was available.

"But now I have the satisfaction that at least our work has reached people the way we wanted it to. People have already downloaded it. One thing that made me especially happy was seeing that they're even screening the movie with a projector at Gurudwara Sahib. It brought me immense joy to see that," the Amar Singh Chamkila actor shared.

Reflecting on the digital age, Diljit added, "Once something is on the internet, I don't think it can ever truly be deleted."

The actor also spoke about the years of effort that went into bringing Satluj to audiences. Calling it a long and emotionally demanding journey, he revealed that the team had spent nearly six to seven years working on the project and had faced several obstacles along the way.

"We've been fighting for four years. Who knows, maybe it'll come back again if we get another chance to continue the fight. But I'm content that the movie is finally out," he said.

ZEE5 explains why Satluj was removed Announcing the decision, ZEE5 released a statement confirming that Satluj had been withdrawn from its Indian library until further notice.

"In light of the current developments, Satluj will be unavailable in India until further notice. We remain committed to exploring every appropriate avenue through due process to bring the film back to our audiences at the earliest opportunity," the streaming platform said.

The platform also thanked audiences for their overwhelming response to the film during the brief period it was available.

"We are deeply grateful to every viewer who chose to subscribe, watch, and champion the film. Your love and support have meant a great deal to us and to everyone who brought this story to life. At ZEE5, we stand firmly by Satluj and the creative vision behind it. We believe powerful storytelling has the ability to inspire, endure, and leave a lasting impact," the statement added. The controversy surrounding Satluj Satluj is based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who exposed the alleged extrajudicial killings and illegal mass cremations of thousands of unidentified Sikh youths during Punjab's militancy era in the 1990s. Khalra later disappeared in 1995 under mysterious circumstances.

Before its release, the film had remained embroiled in controversy for years. Reports suggested that the Central Board of Film Certification had sought more than 120 cuts, including the removal of references to Punjab and the Punjab Police, as well as changes to the identity of the real-life protagonist.

Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha are all set to share screen space as an on-screen couple for the first time in an untitled situational comedy directed by Shashie Vermaa. While the real-life couple has previously appeared together in the popular Fukrey franchise, this marks the first film where they will be paired opposite each other in lead roles.

Backed by Scenework Productions and Giriraj Productions, the film will also star acclaimed actor Kumud Mishra in a pivotal role. Set against the vibrant and chaotic backdrop of Delhi, the comedy promises a slice-of-life narrative infused with humour, emotions, and social commentary.

Shashie Vermaa, known for his work as an actor in films like Bala, Gunjan Saxena, and Kathal, as well as for writing and directing projects such as AK47 and Murga Trophy, will helm the yet-untitled entertainer. The film is scheduled to go on floors in the second half of 2026, with a theatrical release planned for April 2027.

Speaking about the project, Ali Fazal said, “I’ve always believed that the best comedies come from honest characters and believable situations. The moment I read this script, I knew there was something special about it. Delhi itself is almost a character in the film. The announcement comes shortly after Scenework Productions and Giriraj Productions wrapped up their children's sports film Murga Trophy, as both production houses continue to expand their slate with stories spanning multiple genres.

Prasad Film Laboratories has issued a public notice in the June 20, 2026 issue of Complete Cinema magazine asking rightful owners to collect film negatives and other celluloid materials lying unclaimed at its premises in Chennai, Trivandrum, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

According to the notice, the concerned materials must be claimed within 30 days of the date of publication. The company has cautioned that any negatives or celluloid assets left uncollected after the stipulated period may be permanently destroyed in accordance with prevailing pollution-control norms.

The announcement is significant for producers, studios, distributors, financiers and legal heirs who may have deposited original negatives, prints or related film material with the laboratories over the years. Since many older films were preserved primarily on physical stock, failure to retrieve such material could potentially result in the irreversible loss of valuable cinematic assets.

Stakeholders have therefore been advised to verify their records and immediately contact the relevant Prasad Film Laboratories facility if they believe any material belonging to them remains stored there. Ownership documentation and other supporting records may be required before the material is released.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Prasad Lab shut down a few years ago. However, they preserved the negatives in their cold storages and charged a rental for it. Now they are doing away with the cold storage facility as well. Hence, it is important that the message reaches the rightful owners in the industry. In the past, negatives of certain films were destroyed. Now, there’s no copy available of those films at all.”

One famous and unfortunate example is the Manoj Bajpayee-Tabu starrer Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar (2000). In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama on the 25th anniversary of the film, in October 2025, Hansal Mehta said, “The film’s negatives are destroyed. My producing partners had sent the negatives to Adlabs. When Adlabs was shutting down, it sent a notice to the producing partners informing them that ‘all the negatives are with us. Claim them within a month. Or else, we’ll destroy them’. They were given a notice of one month. But either nobody received the notice, or they did but didn’t pay heed to it. Eventually, the negatives were destroyed. So, rather than celebrate the film, I am very sad about the development.”

Hansal Mehta continued, “I asked my producers the other day about the negatives. They had no clue and later, they realized that the negatives were destroyed. So, there’s no record of the film.”

Akshay Kumar’s production house, Cape of Good Films LLP, has issued a public notice in the July 4, 2026 issue of Complete Cinema magazine, asserting that it is the sole and exclusive holder of the rights to produce and commercially exploit the much-awaited comedy, Hera Pheri 3. The notice has been addressed to the public at large as well as stakeholders across the Indian film trade.

The notice specifically addresses distributors, exhibitors, cinema chains, OTT and streaming platforms, television broadcasters, digital platforms, advertisers, licensors, licensees, aggregators and syndicators, among others.

Cape of Good Films LLP has claimed that it holds an “irrevocable, worldwide, perpetual and unencumbered licence” to produce, distribute, market, exploit, commercialize and otherwise deal with the cinematograph film presently titled Hera Pheri 3. The company has stated that its rights extend across all modes, media, platforms, technologies and formats, whether currently known or developed in the future.

Through the notice, Cape of Good Films LLP has formally called upon all individuals and entities to recognize and respect its stated rights over the film. It has also cautioned members of the entertainment industry against entering into any arrangement, transaction, negotiation, representation or dealing with a third party claiming to possess rights in or relating to Hera Pheri 3 without receiving prior written authorisation from the company.

The notice further warns that any person acting contrary to these instructions would do so entirely at their own risk. Cape of Good Films LLP has reserved all rights and remedies available to it under law and equity in the event its claimed interests are violated.

Actor Preity Zinta has approached the Bombay High Court seeking the removal of AI-generated deepfake videos, morphed images and other unauthorised content featuring her from social media and online platforms. The actress has also sought an injunction to prevent the publication and circulation of such content in the future.

The matter came up for hearing before a single bench of Justice Madhav Jamdar on Friday. After hearing preliminary submissions, the court directed the parties, including the online platforms concerned, to work out a mechanism for taking down the allegedly offending material. The matter has now been listed for further hearing on July 6. Preity Zinta seeks removal of AI-generated content In her civil suit, Preity Zinta has referred to multiple instances of AI-generated deepfakes, morphed visuals and chatbot-style interactions that allegedly use her likeness without authorisation.

According to the plea, the actress has sought urgent directions from the Bombay High Court asking the platforms hosting such material to immediately remove it. She has also requested the court to restrain the concerned entities from posting or publishing any unauthorised AI-generated content featuring her in the future.

The petition comes amid growing concerns over the misuse of artificial intelligence to create misleading digital content using the identities of public figures. Bombay High Court asks parties to work on takedown mechanism During Friday's hearing, Justice Madhav Jamdar asked the parties to work together on a mechanism for removing the disputed content from the websites and online platforms where it is available.

The court did not pass any interim order on the merits of the case at this stage but fixed July 6 as the next date of hearing, when the matter will be taken up again.

Deepfakes are digitally created or altered images, audio recordings or videos generated using artificial intelligence. The technology can convincingly imitate a person's face, voice or expressions, making it appear as though they said or did something that never actually occurred.

The theme remains extremely catchy and popular even 22 years after the film’s release.”

The source further said, “Wicked Sunny will feature Akshay Kumar in a wacky comic avatar, distinctly different from the characters he has played in recent comic capers such as Bhooth Bangla and Welcome To The Jungle. Fans are going to have a blast watching Akshay go all-out. Moreover, the title is only going to further enhance the hype surrounding the film.”

Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan have worked together in 7 films until now – Hera Pheri (2000), Garam Masala (2005), Bhagam Bhag (2006), Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007), De Dana Dan (2009), Khatta Meetha (2010) and Bhooth Bangla. Haiwaan will be their eighth film together, while Wicked Sunny will be their ninth outing. Haiwaan, co-starring Saif Ali Khan, releases in cinemas on September 11, 2026.

As per a recent report in Mid-Day, Wicked Sunny is a comic thriller that Priyadarshan has written along with Rohan Shankar. Both also collaborated on Bhooth Bangla. The article further revealed that the film is expected to go on floors in December this year.

Actor Chandrachur Singh has found himself in the spotlight after a video of him interacting with officials during Gurugram's ongoing anti-encroachment drive surfaced on social media. The clip, which has since gone viral, shows the actor speaking with police personnel and officials from the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) outside his residence in DLF.

Reportedly, the interaction took place during the DTCP's large-scale enforcement drive across DLF Phases 1 to 5. The campaign is aimed at removing alleged encroachments, illegal constructions and the unauthorised commercial use of residential properties in an effort to reclaim public land and enforce urban planning regulations.

Authorities also took action against an alleged illegal structure outside Chandrachur Singh's residence. During the inspection, DTP Amit Madholia reportedly briefed the actor about the enforcement being carried out.

According to Navbharat Times, officials alleged that a boundary wall outside the property had encroached upon public road land. The report further stated that trees and plants located within the allegedly encroached area were removed as part of the demolition exercise.

In the viral video, Chandrachur Singh is seen seeking clarification from the officials regarding the scope of the action. The actor reportedly informed them that he had been living at the property for more than three decades and that his father had purchased the house in 1991.

During the conversation, Chandrachur repeatedly asked whether the demolition was limited to the structure outside the residence and whether no further action would be taken against the house itself.

Responding to his concerns, DTP Amit Madholia reportedly assured the actor that the enforcement was confined to the alleged encroachment outside the property. Following the clarification, the conversation concluded on a cordial note before the officials continued with the drive.

As of now, Chandrachur Singh has not issued any official statement regarding the incident or the reports surrounding the action outside his residence.

After confirming that he is no longer associated with Hera Pheri 3, filmmaker Priyadarshan has now shared fresh details about his decision to walk away from the much-awaited comedy franchise. The director has alleged that repeated insults from producer Firoz Nadiadwala, along with a long-running copyright dispute surrounding the franchise, convinced him that the film may never be made.

The development comes shortly after Nadiadwala revealed that Priyadarshan was no longer directing Hera Pheri 3. The filmmaker later confirmed the news, telling Hindustan Times, "To the best of my knowledge, Hera Pheri 3 will never hit the screen due to lots of legal issues and personal conflicts. Whether I am involved or not is unimportant."

Now, in an exclusive conversation with Mid-Day, Priyadarshan elaborated on what led to his exit and spoke candidly about his differences with the producer.

Recalling his conversations with Akshay Kumar, the director said, "Firoz told Akshay, 'You have the rights to make Hera Pheri 3, but never make it with Priyadarshan. That's my only request.' He has insulted me so many times. He told me that my cut of Hera Pheri [2000] looked like a poor man's version, that he had to edit my five-hour movie. I initially agreed to do the third part with Akshay because I thought I could make one of this country's biggest franchises. If I had directed it, I could've made it bigger than Dhurandhar. Akshay, Suniel, and Paresh requested me to make Hera Pheri 3. When I narrated the story to them, they were all excited."

According to Priyadarshan, the problems surrounding the project began much earlier. He revealed that in 2025, he received a call from Seven Arts Films' GP Vijayakumar, warning him about possible legal complications if the film moved ahead.

"When Hera Pheri 3 was announced, I got a call from Seven Arts Films' GP Vijayakumar that if we ever do the film, it will be a violation. I didn't know what to do. This is why I said that Hera Pheri 3 may never see the screens with the same characters. You will never see them again as it has too many legal issues. According to me, Hera Pheri [2000] was born, Hera Pheri 2 [2006] became sick, and Hera Pheri 3 will be dead," the filmmaker said.

Meanwhile, despite his exit from Hera Pheri 3, Priyadarshan's professional association with Akshay Kumar remains strong. Days after confirming his departure from the franchise, the filmmaker also confirmed his ninth collaboration with the actor.

Readers may recall that Bollywood Hungama was the first to report that the duo had reunited for another project. In April this year, a source told the publication, "Priyadarshan is putting together an exciting film and has signed Akshay Kumar for it. It'll be a typical Priyan entertainer that'll appeal to the youth and families alike." The source further revealed that the untitled comic entertainer will be produced by Tips Films, marking the banner's first collaboration with Priyadarshan and the second film together for Akshay Kumar and Tips after Entertainment (2014).

The confirmation also came ahead of the release of their eighth collaboration, Haiwaan, which is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on September 11, 2026. The film also stars Saif Ali Khan in a pivotal role.

25 years after Lagaan, Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowarikar are reuniting on another sports drama, which is scheduled to go on floors in October 2026. The film is based on the life of Lala Amarnath, and set against the backdrop of the 1947 Partition between India and Pakistan.

While the prep work is going on in full swing, Bollywood Hungama has learnt from industry sources that the reunion of Aamir and Ashu has got a title, and it's sure to blow away the minds of audiences. According to reliable sources, the duo have decided to call their film Lalkaar. "After Lagaan, it's time for Lalkaar. The title instils instant recall to their cult, and also promises something new. Much like Lagaan, this one too is a strong emotional saga set against the backdrop of cricket," a source told Bollywood Hungama.

Apart from Aamir, the makers are on the lookout to cast another actor as the second lead, and the announcement of the same will be made soon. The film is written by Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi, with Excel Entertainment as the producer.

After emerging as one of the biggest theatrical successes in Hindi cinema, Dhurandhar is now set to continue its global journey. The Ranveer Singh-starrer will release in theatres across Japan on July 10, 2026, marking another milestone in the film's successful international run.

Ahead of the release, Ranveer Singh recorded a special video message for Japanese audiences, inviting them to experience the action-packed entertainer on the big screen. Calling Dhurandhar an immersive cinematic spectacle, the actor highlighted the film's blend of drama, intensity, scale and emotion while expressing his excitement about the movie reaching a new audience.

The Japan release comes months after the film enjoyed a phenomenal worldwide run following its theatrical release in India on December 5, 2025. Backed by strong box office numbers and positive audience response, Dhurandhar went on to establish itself as one of the biggest commercial successes in recent Hindi cinema.

Written, directed and produced by Aditya Dhar, the spy action thriller is also produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar. Presented by Jio Studios and produced under the banner of B62 Studios, the film has been mounted on a large scale and has been praised for its action sequences, emotional storytelling and high production values.

Featuring an ensemble cast, Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh in the lead alongside Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Gaurav Gera and Danish Pandor in pivotal roles. The film follows the journey of an undercover Indian intelligence agent who infiltrates Karachi's criminal syndicates and Pakistani political circles while pursuing a mission linked to the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Loosely inspired by true events, the story blends espionage, action and emotion against the backdrop of high-stakes national security operations.

With its July 10 release, the makers are aiming to introduce the film's larger-than-life cinematic experience to audiences in Japan, further extending the international reach of one of Hindi cinema's biggest blockbusters.
